In 1842 a Bavarian brewer in Plzeň combined cold lagering with pale English kilning and produced the first golden lager. Within decades most of the world's beer looked like it. Czechia still drinks more beer per head than anywhere else, and still serves it with a deliberate thick head that would be sent back elsewhere.
